In March 2020, as New York City entered lockdown, I turned to photography to explore vulnerability and meaning in everyday life. Collaborating with my roommate Bernadette, I documented how ordinary objects could reflect personal and collective emotions during a time of uncertainty.
Inspired by Marcel Duchamp and the Dada movement, Bernadette du Jour questions how we assign significance to objects and how humor and absurdity can offer solace. The project is both a meditation on resilience and an exploration of art’s role in making sense of the mundane.
